Scalloped lace across the bust, a plain panel through the waist, then lace again at the hip — the Domitille is built in three bands, which is an old couture trick for making a body look longer than it is.
The plain middle panel is also the practical part: it is the section that does the smoothing, and it is cut on a slight bias so it moves rather than grips.
